Psalms 91:10

King James Bible

"There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."

Commentary

This promise of divine protection assures the believer that harmful calamities will not overtake them. In the psalm's context of dwelling in God's shelter, this reflects the ancient Near Eastern concept of a deity's protective sphere extending to faithful worshippers. The psalmist extends protection beyond the individual to their household, using 'plague' to represent any devastating affliction. This echoes the Passover narrative where destruction bypassed marked homes, reinforcing that God's protection creates a sacred boundary around those who trust Him.
