Psalms 84:6

King James Bible

"Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools."

Commentary

The valley of Baca (meaning "weeping" or "balsam trees") represents a dry, difficult place pilgrims must traverse on their journey to Jerusalem's temple. This imagery captures life's inevitable seasons of hardship and spiritual dryness that believers encounter. Rather than merely enduring the arid valley, the faithful transform it into a source of refreshment through their presence and faith. This suggests that God's people can bring blessing and renewal even to desolate circumstances. God responds to the pilgrims' faith by sending rain—likely the autumn rains that marked the festival season—multiplying their efforts with divine provision. The pools collecting water symbolize how human faithfulness and divine grace work together to create abundance.
