Psalms 27:6

King James Bible

"And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD."

Commentary

David expresses confidence that God will grant him victory and honor despite being surrounded by adversaries. The lifted head symbolizes triumph and vindication in ancient Near Eastern culture, contrasting with the shame of defeat. In response to God's deliverance, David commits to worship at the sacred tent with thanksgiving offerings. These sacrifices of joy (literally 'sacrifices with shouts') were voluntary offerings expressing gratitude rather than obligation. The emphatic repetition intensifies David's pledge of vocal worship, moving from ritual sacrifice to personal expression. This musical praise reflects the deep connection between deliverance and doxology in Hebrew worship tradition.
