Psalms 18:45

King James Bible

"The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places."

Commentary

Foreign enemies lose their strength and vitality in the face of God's anointed king. The Hebrew term for 'fade away' suggests withering like a plant, indicating their power and confidence will gradually diminish when confronted by divine authority. These adversaries emerge trembling from their fortified strongholds and hiding places. Their fear drives them from positions they considered secure, demonstrating that no earthly refuge can protect those who oppose God's chosen ruler.
