Commentary

Following the wilderness temptation, Satan transports Jesus to Jerusalem, referred to as the 'holy city' due to its sacred status as the center of Jewish worship. This supernatural movement demonstrates the devil's temporary power during this testing period and sets the stage for a public, religious temptation. The pinnacle likely refers to the temple's highest point, possibly the southeast corner overlooking a steep drop into the Kidron Valley.
