King James Bible
"Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us."
These are the five foolish virgins from the parable who arrived after the bridegroom had already come and the door was shut. Their late arrival emphasizes the consequences of being unprepared for Christ's return, as they missed the critical moment while away buying oil. The repetition of 'Lord' expresses desperation and urgency, echoing Jesus' warning that not everyone who says 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom (Matthew 7:21). Their plea reveals they recognize the bridegroom's authority but their recognition comes too late, highlighting the parable's warning about spiritual preparedness.
