Mark 7:1

King James Bible

"Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem."

Scribes were professional interpreters of Jewish law who often aligned with Pharisaic teachings. Their inclusion indicates this was not a casual encounter but a formal delegation with theological authority. Jerusalem was the religious center of Judaism, home to the temple and Sanhedrin. Their journey from the capital suggests Jesus' growing influence had attracted attention from the highest religious authorities, who came to investigate his teachings and practices.
