John 6:43

King James Bible

"Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves."

Commentary

Jesus responds directly to the Jews' grumbling about his claim to be the bread from heaven. The word 'therefore' connects this rebuke to their previous murmuring, showing Jesus' awareness of their whispered objections and his authority to address their hearts. This command echoes Israel's wilderness murmuring against God, suggesting these listeners are repeating their ancestors' faithless pattern. Jesus cuts through their private complaints to expose their deeper issue: spiritual blindness that prevents them from recognizing him as the true manna.
