John 10:41

King James Bible

"And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true."

Commentary

Jesus had withdrawn beyond the Jordan to where John the Baptist first baptized, and crowds followed Him there. This movement of people demonstrates Jesus' growing influence despite increasing opposition from religious leaders. The people recognize that John the Baptist performed no supernatural signs during his ministry. This observation highlights the distinct nature of John's prophetic role as forerunner rather than miracle-worker. The crowds validate John's testimony about Jesus by comparing John's earlier proclamations with their current experience of Christ. This recognition serves as a powerful vindication of both John's ministry and Jesus' identity as the promised Messiah.
