John 10:39

King James Bible

"Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,"

Commentary

The Jewish leaders attempt once more to arrest Jesus, with "therefore" linking this to his claim of divine unity with the Father (v. 30-38). Jesus eludes capture, demonstrating that his eventual arrest and crucifixion will occur only at his appointed time. This escape underscores his sovereign control over circumstances, even as human opposition intensifies.
