John 1:37

King James Bible

"And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus."

Commentary

These two disciples of John the Baptist (Andrew and likely John the apostle) heard their teacher identify Jesus as the Lamb of God. Their following marks the beginning of discipleship—a physical pursuit that represents spiritual commitment. This pivotal moment shows how John's ministry succeeds by directing people away from himself toward the Messiah.
