Genesis 1:25

King James Bible

"And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

Commentary

God creates wild animals and domesticated livestock as distinct categories, each reproducing according to their own species. The repetition of 'after his kind' emphasizes the ordered diversity of creation, where each creature type maintains its unique identity and purpose. This completes the land animal triad by including small creatures that move close to the ground—insects, reptiles, and rodents. The comprehensive language shows God's creative attention extends from the largest beasts to the smallest creeping things. God evaluates the completed work of the sixth day's land animals with divine approval. This declaration affirms that the animal kingdom, in all its variety, fulfills God's creative intent and contributes to the harmonious order of creation before humanity's introduction.
