Galatians 6:17

King James Bible

"From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus."

Commentary

Paul issues a final, authoritative command to cease questioning his apostolic credentials and gospel message. Written at the letter's conclusion, this reflects his exhaustion with the Judaizers who have been undermining his ministry and demanding Gentile circumcision. Paul's physical scars from persecution serve as his ultimate validation—contrasting the Judaizers' emphasis on circumcision marks with his own suffering for Christ. The Greek word 'stigmata' referred to brands marking slaves or devotees, suggesting Paul views his scars as ownership marks proving his belonging to Jesus.
