King James Bible
"For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God."
Paul declares that the law itself brought him to recognize his spiritual death and inability to achieve righteousness through legal observance. This paradox—dying to the law through the law—reflects how the law's perfect standard exposed his sinfulness and drove him to seek justification elsewhere, ultimately in Christ. The purpose of this death to law-based righteousness is new life oriented toward God himself. Rather than relating to God through legal performance, Paul now experiences direct, life-giving relationship—a shift from external compliance to internal transformation through the Spirit.
