King James Bible

"And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice."

Commentary

The supernatural trumpet blast at Mount Sinai intensifies progressively, building to a climactic moment of divine encounter. This escalating sound creates mounting tension and signals the awesome presence of God descending upon the mountain, preparing the people for the giving of the Law. In the midst of this terrifying theophany, Moses alone has the courage and calling to speak. His role as mediator between God and Israel is highlighted as he dares to address the Almighty while the people tremble at the mountain's base. God responds audibly to Moses, establishing a direct dialogue that confirms Moses' unique prophetic authority. This divine-human conversation demonstrates that the fearsome God of Sinai is also willing to communicate with His chosen servant, making His will known through spoken words.
