Ephesians 2:6

King James Bible

"And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"

Commentary

Paul declares believers are spiritually resurrected with Christ, sharing in His victory over death. The past tense emphasizes this is an accomplished reality, not a future hope, while 'together' stresses the corporate nature of salvation. Beyond resurrection, believers are granted Christ's own position of authority and honor in the spiritual realm. This echoes ancient throne-room imagery where sitting signified completed work and shared dominion. This phrase anchors the entire miraculous transformation—our union with Christ is the sole basis for our spiritual position. Every blessing flows from being incorporated into Him rather than from personal merit.
