Daniel 2:24

King James Bible

"Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation."

Commentary

Daniel approaches Arioch, the executioner tasked with killing all Babylonian wise men after they failed to reveal Nebuchadnezzar's dream. This moment follows Daniel's prayer and God's revelation of the dream, showing his immediate action to prevent the massacre. Daniel's first words are a direct plea to halt the executions, demonstrating both his compassion for his pagan colleagues and his confidence in God's revelation. His intervention shows moral courage in advocating for those who served false gods. Daniel confidently promises to provide what the other wise men could not—both the dream and its meaning. His request for an audience reveals faith in God's revelation and positions him as the solution to the crisis that threatened the entire intellectual class of Babylon.
