Daniel 2:22

King James Bible

"He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him."

Commentary

Daniel declares God's unique ability to unveil mysteries hidden from human understanding, specifically referring to Nebuchadnezzar's dream that no Babylonian wise man could interpret. This establishes God's sovereignty over all knowledge and His willingness to share divine wisdom with His servants. Nothing is concealed from God's sight—even what lies in complete obscurity to humans is fully exposed to Him. In the context of Daniel interpreting dreams in a pagan court, this affirms that God's knowledge penetrates beyond human limitations and earthly powers. Light symbolizes perfect understanding and revelation, residing permanently with God as an essential attribute. This contrasts with the darkness of human ignorance, emphasizing that all illumination and truth originate from God's very nature.
